Sega swoop for London Studio

Japanese game company Sega have acquired two studios, one in the U.K and the other in the U.S. The studios are worth a total of around $68m, and further strengthen Sega's position in the western market.

Sega have bought North London based studio, Sports Interactive, creators of the Football Manager series, as well as San Francisco based studio Secret Level, who will be working with Sega on a number of next-gen projects.

“In recent years, Sega has rebalanced its development strategy to be more Western focused,” said Sega of America and Sega Europe CEO Naoya Tsurumi. “On the heels of our first, successful studio acquisition with The Creative Assembly, the addition of these development powerhouses further moves Sega toward its goal of becoming a leading next-generation publisher.”
