Asda And Tesco trial pre-owned game scheme and trade-ins

MCV reports that the scheme has begun at Leeds Asda Living store at Crownpoint and has also been confirmed at Tesco's Basildon Pitsea store.
The news is sure to go down like a lead balloon with some publishers who have been very vocal about the used-game sales market and its financial impact on them.
Recently, Electronic Arts has led the charge to combat used-game sales by introducing incentives for those who buy its game brand new. In Mass Effect 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 gamers are given a VIP code that gives them access to exclusive content.
Over the past few years a number of major retailers have tapped into the multi-billion pound used-game market, including GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon. Gamestop alone is said to rake in approximately $2 billion annually from the sale of pre-owned games.
