Corsair launches gaming keyboards and mice

I love the idea of that ‘sniper’ button, although I would probably use it for fine graphics editing rather than shooting fake aliens in the head. The notion of holding down what is essentially a shift button to give you fine mouse control is genius.

I also really, really hope that the K90 keyboard is as good as it sounds. At the moment you can get either high-quality keyboards or back-lit ones - there don't seem to be any that do both well (unless you want to pay silly money to import a high-end Deck keyboard). I currently have a Logitech G-something-or-other and while it has great back-lighting and several programmable macro keys the action of the keys themselves is pretty awful (particularly the volume buttons around the LCD screen).

Sounds very much like the G15 (rev 2, at least) which I've just exchanged for the much more pleasant Logitech K750. No macro keys, no num lock, caps lock, scroll lock indicators but a good feel when typing and solar-powered.

I would also like too add that if you want the “Sniper” button to be a Click on/off rather than hold you can do that through the software.

I was at the press event yesterday and i was mightly impressed with the look and feel of all the new range.

It's very strange. I have a G510 and a G110… the G510's key presses are, to me, far better. More comfortable, less clunky, and quieter, without losing any of the feedback.

Considering the keyboards are virtually identical though, minus the screen, I doubt it's mean to be that way.

Not to expensive (the keyboards that is), for the readers that dont know about the different switches used in keyboards heres a simple sentence to describe it:

Mechanical keyboards with mx cherrys (theres loads of different switch makers but cherry are probably the standard in quality and reliability) all operate on a spring type mechanisim and all of them (iirc) dont require a full press, i.e they activate halfway down (much easier to type with) where as dome switches (all logitech and other cheapy manufacturers) require full press and wear out alot quicker than mechanical (mechanical will last atleast 5 times a dome switch).

Mechanical keyboards are always more expensive apart from say logitechs g510/(g19?), logitech has that screen that is nice and useful (liked my g510 but hated keys, you really notice it when you try a mechanical out for a few minutes, will never go back!).

Filco make amazing keyboards and are regarded as one of the best mechanical keyboards you can buy, they're £100-£130 normally so this slots in with them…

MX browns are a mid way switch (i.e they have a small tactile bump halfway down and no click, the mx blue have that loud click and the tactile feedback, the mxblack has no feel but gets harder as it goes further down… silent keys).

Im suprised corsair has gone with reds as i havent seen them in a long time! Personally havent tried them (no where to try keyboards in plymouth…) but i know alot of people love them over most other switches.

It will be interesting to see how well these are put together as keyboards like Razers mechanical (black widow is it?) was famed for being utter over priced tripe again :P. If you dont need the bells and whistles then the filcos are solid stuff, lets see if corsair can match that quality!.

also, hope they bring it out with a ps/2 adapter as PS/2 wins hands down and with NKRO it would be a nice marketing feature for them.
