Podcasters are going to like this one! On the Belkin stand at Digital Summer '08 lay something we'd never seen before - the Belkin GoStudio - a portable podcasting studio that'll allow users to capture high-quality audio recordings on-the-go and then publish directly to iTunes when docked.

Compatible with various iPods, the GoStudio offers a built-in microphone that is said to offer 'superior audio quality' - we'll await further details on the recording facilities before we decide if it actually is. There's a built-in speaker for playback, dual XLR, 1/4in inputs and of course room for batteries. To help your recordings sound as you'd hope they would, there's a recording meter, gain control, and a compressor/limiter.

According to Belkin, GoStudio is likely to land in the UK in Autumn 2008 at an estimated retail price of Ā£80. If you're really into podcasting, or, you'd like to walk around with something that looks a little like a Star Trek tricorder, this could be a device to keep an eye on.
