With Freeview HD on its way to at least 50 per cent of the country over the coming months, the race is on for manufacturers to introduce compatible set-top receivers.
The first to appear at retail came from Humax in the form of the HD-FOX T2, and the list of receivers "coming soon" has now been expanded with the arrival of Sharp.
The Japanese manufacturer is on track to introduce two Freeview HD receivers in time for the 2010 World Cup.
The more powerful of the two is the TU-T2HR32, pictured above, which features a 320GB hard-disk drive and dual DVB-T2 tuners, allowing users to watch one channel whilst recording another.
As with most other Freeview HD receivers, Sharp's TU-T2HR32 will also upscale standard-definition broadcasts and features an Ethernet port that is expected to enable future video-on-demand functionality. HDMI output is available, as is Scart and Composite, and the receiver features USB ports for easy storage expansion.
For those who don't see the need for PVR functionality, Sharp will also be introducing a single-tuner version without a hard drive dubbed the TU-T2.
Expect to see the TU-T2 arrive in April priced at around £180, with the TU-T2HR32 following in May at a cost of £290.
