Knowing HEXUS readers, our audience probably checks for Freeview software updates on a daily basis in anticipation of something new to play with.

However, for those who don't live on the bleeding edge of technology, Freeview will be launching a "Remember to Retune" campaign to urge users to retune equipment on or after Wednesday September 30th.

That's the date on which technical preparations will be made for future improvements to the Freeview service. As part of the upgrade, ITV4 will move to an alternative multiplex, paving the way for Five to become as widely available as BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1 and Channel 4, and preparations will be made for the upcoming rollout of Freeview HD.

Users with Freeview, BT Vision or Top Up TV equipment will be required to retune on or after September 30th in order to continue to receive broadcasts of ITV4 and Five.

Freeview's "Remember to Retune" campaign begins in early September and will appear as on-screen messages on channels including BBC One, ITV1, Channel 4 and Five. Viewers will be able to press the red button for details information on how to retune.

As for Freeview HD, we're told that "technical preparations for future improvements to the Freeview service such as Freeview HD will be made on Wednesday 30 September", but the finer details of the Freeview HD service won't be unveiled until later this summer.

Link don't work! Am I alone?
Works fine here :)
Sometimes something goes wrong, but it fixes itself, as is evident by the fact that it's available now :)
People may realize they need to retune once everything stops working, at least I hope there's enough common sense out there to do so.
They left out dear old Tiscali TV which, though it's IPTV, also picks up whatever Freeview channels are available via aerial.

(Let's hope new owners TalkTalk have no plans to ditch that great and potentially greater service.)
