'World’s first' mobile WiMAX smart phone

HEXUS.CEBIT Samsung was showing what it claims is the world’s first mobile WiMAX phone. Based around Windows Mobile for pocket PC the handset itself comes with a 65,536 colour 2.8in TFT screen running a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels.

Being WiMAX enabled means this phone has the capability to provide you with a wireless broadband connection on the move, and when we mean move, we mean move!

Samsung quoted the phone as being able to provide a broadband connection of 3mb per sec download and 1mb per sec upload while moving at speeds of up to 120km/h.

Coupled with this impressive internet speed is a pair of 1.3mp cameras and further wireless connectivity via BlueTooth.

Unfortunately the M8000 is only available in Korea at this time but it does show us the potential for mobile data provision in the near future should the UK networks get their acts together.
