Apple was busy introducing three new models for its 100m-selling iPod range last night, so let's get right to it with the new nano.

The third-generation iPod nano has been designed with video in mind. Sporting a 2in screen with a 320 x 240 resolution and 65 per cent greater brighter than before, Apple has shoehorned it into an anodised chassis that measures 69.8mm (h) x 52.3mm (w) x 6.5mm (d). Compared to the second-generation model (90 x 40 x 6.5mm), then, the all-new nano is a little wider than its predecessor but noticeably shorter and just as thin.
The video-optimised nano is available in 4GB and 8GB models and supports H.264 and MPEG-4 codecs - Apple claims a video-playback battery life of up to 5 hours. Audio support remains the same, so AAC, MP3, WAV, Apple lossless, and AIFF, with up to 24 hours of music playback on a single battery charge.
Apple has re-designed the user interface for a sleeker look and it supports Cover Flow, too. 3 games will be bundled - Vortex, iQuiz, and Klondike - and you'll be able to purchase additional games at the iTunes store.
All you have to do is choose one of five colours and part with your cash - £99 for the 4GB and £129 for the 8GB nano, and both will be shipping within 3 days.
