ViewSonic has hooked up with Intel and Boxee to launch its first connected TV powered by Intel's Atom processor CE4100 and featuring Boxee software.
While Boxee has been around for a little while and lets people access TV shows, films, music and photos from the net and their home network on their telly as well as social networking features, it is the first time it has been integrated into a smart TV from ViewSonic. The integrated smart TV will be available in Q2 2010.
ViewSonic has also shown off a new member of its ViewPad family at CES - a diminutive 4 inch basic Android tablet. It can work as a phone too and is based on a Qualcomm MSM 8255 1GHz platform. It offers HD 720p video recording and playback, a 5MP camera and GPS functionality. The tablet will be available in mid 2011 but pricing will depend on carriers.
And finally, the company has shown off its ViewFun 3D photography line, comprised of 5 media devices that let people create and connect to 3D and 2D content on the go.
The ViewFun Snap Pocket 3D digital camera captures 3D and 2D images with its 5MP lens and enables 3D playback with a 2.4 inch glasses-free 3D LCD panel. Consumers can also view their pictures on a regular laptop in the red/cyan mode wearing the necessary glasses, or on a 3D HD TV via an HDMI port. It will cost $149 in Q1 of 2011.
The slightly pricier ViewFun 3D PocketHD and 3D Pocket camcorders allow users to capture 3D and 2D videos in full HD 1080p or 720p respectively. They offer the same viewing options as the digital camera as well. The 3D Pocket HD camcorder is set to cost $199 from Q2 with the lesser quality camera priced at around $179.
ViewSonic has also shown off a 3D Palm Full HD Camcorder for $249 available in Q2 which is a higher spec 3D and 2D compact camcorder built with the capability to better capture fast moving objects, plus flash and a built in microphone among other features.
It also debuted a 3D Show Multimedia digital photo frame which can convert standard 2D photos into 3D. Viewers need not wear glasses and there are calendar, clock and soundtrack options for around $179.
