PRESS RELEASE
SEOUL, Korea - August 26, 2010 - Samsung Apps, the mobile phone application hub for Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., announced a list of its most-useful and popular applications available for £1.
Health/life applications, including two sleep-inducing apps topped the list. Ambiance Deluxe and iSleepAid both emit soothing ambient and binaural tones that can be used to promote sleep, relaxation, awareness, pain relief or concentration. The two apps are available on Samsung's bada platform. Health/life app AR Goniometer, which measures angles of any object in real time, also made the list.
Game applications were also highly ranked on Samsung's list, with TapTapShooter 2in1 and Rescue! Stick Heroes taking the top two spots. TapTapShooter 2in1 features two shooting-action games, in which a user can either kill bugs or shoot aliens. And Rescue! Stick Heroes offers a maze race.
Utility and e-book apps rounded out the list. The Weather app offers real-time weather updates from any location straight to your phone, while WorldWorld's eBook, Snug as a Bug - based on the popular PBS Kids® television series - encourages children to read and has been known to increase literacy.
"Samsung Apps is providing not only top-notch free applications; our paid apps, especially in the £1 price point, are proving to be a hot commodity as well," said Kanghyun Kwon, vice president, Media Solutions Center, Samsung Electronics. "The apps provide elements that are highly useful, practical and entertaining - and they're affordable. They're relatively inexpensive, but well developed, which is a perfect combination."
Samsung Apps plans to highlight these programs through its upcoming £1 application promotion, which will take place once a month to provide customers the opportunity to find out about top applications. The promotion will categorize applications by themes, and the chosen £1 apps will be featured on Samsung Apps on Wave and Kies and promotional banners on http://www.samsungapps.com/.
