CREATIVE, CAMERA, ACTION! THE ASTONISHING CREATIVE PC-CAM 600
The New & Powerful Desktop Webcam Will Inspire Users With Its Improved
All-round Performance & The Best Image Quality Ever
Creative (Nasdaq: CREAF) the worldwide leader in digital entertainment
products for the personal computer and the Internet, unveils the PC-CAM 600,
the new high-end webcam which can be detached from the PC and used as a
portable digital camera. Priced at £139.99 incl. VAT, the PC-CAM 600 will
be available from January 2002.
Slim, attractive, ergonomic and weighing only 143g, the PC-CAM 600 fits
perfectly into your hand or pocket. On the desktop it simply connects via
a
self-powering USB, so no separate power source is required, and it can
capture live video at up to 30fps or still images at up to 1.3 megapixels
with software enhancement. In portable operation it detaches from its base
unit to become a comprehensive sound and vision solution.
The PC-CAM 600 can be used as a digital still or video camera or audio
recorder, thanks to its built-in microphone, intelligent flash and 16MB
internal memory. It can record still pictures at up to 1024x768 (XGA) in
'native' mode and up to 1.3 megapixels with software enhancement, with image
quality that represents a real step forward at this price-point. The unit
has the capacity to store 200 images at 640x480 (VGA), 85 images at XGA or
20 images at 1.3 megapixels. Alternatively, it will record a video clip
with audio of up to 75 seconds or up to 60 minutes of audio only. Advanced
users will be impressed by the incorporation of manual and auto controls
over exposure, white balance, gamma correction and anti-flicker, as well as
the intelligent flash with auto, forced, red-eye reduction and off modes.
Provision for timed shots add the final touch of refinement.
"This great new product broadens the Creative Labs range of detachable,
go-anywhere, multi-functional webcams. It delivers image quality that sets
a new standard for the market thanks to the way our technical teams have
integrated both hardware and software. In effect, the software bundle
'leverages' the performance of the advanced, progressive CCD array and
high-resolution 4-element lens, enabling every user to get the best possible
results," remarks Geraldine Lee, European brand manager for webcams with
Creative Labs Europe.
"We also made this system easier than ever to use, with an LCD interface
that makes set-up and operation simple," she adds, "In a dynamic
market,
consumers are looking for more than technology alone. They want systems that
make a statement of excellent build quality, functionality and elegance -
and deliver results to match."
