Company reinforces leadership position in the TV market by unveiling industry-best warranty covering TV screen burn-in
LONDON – 4th August 2016 – Samsung Electronics announced the launch of a 10 year screen burn warranty promotion covering 2016 SUHD Quantum dot TVs from participating retailers in the UK (initially launched in conjunction with Richer Sounds). This new, industry changing warranty will see Samsung repair or exchange TV panels at no cost to the owner if the screen burn-in effect occurs on screens[1] within 10 years of purchase.
This industry first warranty offer for screen burn applies to the whole range of 2016 Samsung SUHD Quantum dot TVs which are all certified Ultra HD Premium screens. Samsung Quantum dot technology surpasses Ultra HD Premium standards of colour and brightness for exceptional HDR playback without being susceptible to screen burn. The combination of innovative technology, industry certification and this new warranty gives users complete confidence when purchasing a Premium UHD TV.
“Burn-in” refers to the TV display issue that leaves a permanent imprint of an image onscreen. This can occur when a screen is fixed on the same scene for too long or when the same image is repeatedly displayed. When burn-in occurs, the affected areas not only fail to show proper colours, but the brightness in the area is significantly reduced leaving the screen with uneven markings. Particularly important as excessive TV viewing watching films, news tickers, sports channels with static logos and gaming can make a TV more susceptible to screen burn.

The warranty is for consumers who purchase a 2016 SUHD Quantum dot TV between 1st August 2016 and 31st March 2017 from a participating retailer and covers 19 models, including: 88”, 78” and 65” KS9800; 78”, 65” and 55” KS9500; 65”, 55” and 49” KS8500; and 65”, 60”, 55” and 49” KS8000.
