OLD LYME, Conn. – March 11, 2010 – Sennheiser, the premium-quality headphone manufacturer, announces the grand-prize winner of its $10,000 Ultimate Sound Hook Up Contest, which it launched back in November. Andrew Bean, a 22-year-old senior at Duke University, won an assortment of headphones as well as an all-expenses-paid trip for him and several of his friends to see his favorite band Muse perform anywhere in the U.S.

The guiding principle of the contest was to encourage passionate sound lovers from the U.S. and Canada to articulate why high-quality sound is important in their lives. Contestants from all backgrounds were encouraged to submit entries--including YouTube videos--describing what they would do with the 'ultimate prize.'

Bean's video (http://tinyurl.com/andrewbeanie) described the many different real-life scenarios in which high-quality sound can play an integral role in a variety of activities such as exercising, gaming, working, playing music, even sleeping.  His video, which clocked in at just over five minutes, was selected because of its 'passion and authenticity.'  Each contestant was judged on three fundamental criteria: The expression of what sound means to them, overall creativity and an explanation of why they deserved to be "hooked up."

“We would like to congratulate Andrew and thank all the contestants who took the time to express why sound quality is so important in their daily lives," said Stefanie Reichert, vice president of strategic marketing, Sennheiser. "We received an overwhelming response to the contest, and it gave us a chance to engage many more customers and fans who appreciate the sound quality that only Sennheiser is capable of delivering."

In addition to the grand-prize winner, two semi-finalists were also selected, each winning $1,000 worth of Sennheiser products.
