Microsoft's Bing search engine has introduced a new feature which allows users to find detailed recipes by searching for any ingredient or dish.
The service, currently available via Bing's U.S. website Bing.com, pulls results from a variety of popular cookery websites - including delish.com and myrecipes.com - to return detailed recipes listed with pictures, nutritional information and ratings where available.
Users can find recipes by entering a dish or ingredient into the search box, and then selecting the recipes link in the sidebar.
We've found the search engine's ability to find all dishes or ingredients to be hit or miss - it doesn't seem to find recipes for "chicken curry" for example - but those it does find are well presented, with the user able to refine results by defining parameters such as cuisine, convenience, course or cooking method.
Microsoft has previously stated that Bing's diverse number of applications is part of its long-term goal "to deliver innovations in search that enable people to find information quickly and use the information they've found to accomplish tasks and make smart decisions". Recipe search is still in need of a little work, but it's a worthy addition, we reckon.
