Sound move

Huntingdon based distributor Realtime has announced it is now an official distributor for multimedia component and peripherals giant Creative.

Realtime specialises in components and peripherals for the enthusiast PC gamer, so there's an obvious fit there. "Creative is an excellent match for Realtime's gaming PC focused product portfolio as its gaming specific sound cards and headsets will complement our existing range of components and peripherals," said Realtime's Creative product manager - Mark Holdich (pictured).

Back in the day, Creative was primarily known for its Sound Blaster sound cards, but that market has declined as users have been content with on-board audio. Creative diversified and has been valiantly battling Apple in the MP3 player market for some time.

But what will have caught Realtime's eye the most, we suspect, is Creative's range of gaming peripherals. Realtime has moved strongly in that direction in recent years, with Sennheiser, Razer and even the Guitar Hero range part of its portfolio, so it will have high hopes for products like the Sound Blaster branded gaming headsets.

Sound cards haven't gone away yet, though. Realtime will stock the concisely named PCI Express X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series sound card, which provides uber-gamers with a bunch of audio controls and precise 3D positional audio over headphones.
