Funky

The Thermaltake BlackX A is docking station for notebook and desktop internal HDDs. It's designed to make external access to internal HDDs as easy as possible, with a "hot-swap" capability to allow easy switching between drives.

VIP, with distributes the full range of Thermaltake products, has added the BlackX A to its portfolio. "The Thermaltake hard drive docking station has been introduced to the UK due to the number of requests received from end users so it is expected to be a good mover," said Victoria Davies, product manager at VIP.

Thermaltake marketing manager Jerry Lee added: "The growing demand and lowering prices in the hard drive market supported Thermaltake's decision to launch the BlacX A. GFK Retail & Technology found that HDD sales increased in volume by 40 percent and value by 35 percent from January 2007 to January 2008, so we are confident that now is the perfect time to enter this growing and lucrative marketplace."

Here's a US YouTube video demonstrating the BlackX A with a wonderfully incongruous acid jazz soundtrack:

Wow, I want one now :)

Could have done with one last week TBH, been swapping HDs like crazy.

EDIT: Anyone seen them available in the UK yet?
I've had a similar device from sharkoon for a year now, though this thermaltake kit makes mine look old hat, it still does the job.
Isn't the updated one from Sharkoon better as it has an intergrated card reader as well.
lol the PC has no I/O shield… and it looks like this has nothing over the sharkoon. Speed will be exactly the same… This is a copied product. Fail, unless its cheaper than the sharkoon.
