Referral Scheme Targets New Customers

Yorkshire based Distie Target Components has launched a referral system designed to thank their account holders when they recommend a new customer.

40% of new accounts are opened following a referral from an existing customer. Marketing Manager Caroline Spillane explained, "At Target we have always been proud of the fact that so many of our new customers find us through recommendation by existing account holders. We also believe that it never hurts to say thank you or to encourage this process a little, so we have introduced the referral scheme offering extra special thank you gifts to existing account holders who introduce new customers to us."

Customers can refer new account holders by completing as simple online form on the Target website, and choose from an exciting range of goodies as a thank you gift. Rewards include a free carriage deal, a chocolate hamper or even a donation to charity.

The new programme, which was launched this month, follows the success of the customer focus group that was set up to ensure that Target customers had a voice within the business.
