Press release
Leading communications provider, Entanet, is challenging several of the objectives set out in the Digital Britain report, particularly the goal to deliver acceptable broadband speeds to rural areas, meeting demand for even faster access through Next Generation Access and how to address the escalating problem of illegal file sharing.
In the latest article on its opinion website at http://opinion.enta.net/ Entanet's Head of Marketing, Darren Farnden, says that achieving 2Mbps must be seen as the first stepping stone to providing a better customer experience to those in rural areas and that government needs to articulate in more detail how Next Generation Access will be implemented in the short term. He also says Entanet is eager to understand exactly how government expects ISPs to work with Ofcom to reduce illegal file sharing. In Entanet's view, rather than requiring ISPs to address the complexities of copyright theft, rights owners need to review their business models to protect their copyright while profiting from it.
