If Intel and Nvidia can bring an end to current stock shortages, Core i9-9900K and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is a combination we're going to be seeing a lot more of over the 2018 holiday season.

The duo of latest-generation parts is the prime pick for an ultimate gaming PC, and that's precisely what Scan is hoping to deliver with the 3XS Vengeance RTX Ti. Performance is excellent on practically every metric that matters, and the combination of a fast eight-core chip and an overclocked RTX 2080 Ti brings true 4K gaming credentials to those who can afford it.

£3,400 is, however, a hefty sum, and at this price point it is easier to nitpick some of the finer details. The base unit might be deemed too plain by those hoping to make a visual statement, CPU temperature under load is higher than we'd like, and we're of the opinion any premium PC in late 2018 ought to offer front-facing USB Type-C as standard.

Now that's what I'd call a mid-range PC.

I can't be the only one who'd be a little concerned over the GPU PCB being visibly concave.

Scan are not to blame for this, the blame lies completely with Nvidia and Intel, but this build is almost like a parody, a joke! Two of the worst value components I have seen in a long time put together to create an even worse value PC. It makes my build actually seem like a sensible and wise investment! When will the madness end? A top end gaming build used to cost around 1k and I believe even today it should not exceed 2k, but here we are at an eye watering 3.5k for something that's not even that impressive. Maybe it's all a conspiracy to push us all on to consoles, because it might actually work if this carries on into the next gen, and I mean the real next gen, when stuff like RTX actually works properly, not this half way house stuff we have now, which makes the price even more shocking.

what I take from the CPU cooling is that you need a 480mm rad to cool it effectively.
