Conclusion

...performance is ultimately strong and the rig is handily placed for high-resolution gaming - yet given the £2,700 price tag it is fair to expect excellence in every aspect.

Chillblast may have one eye on the millions of gamers vying for survival in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, but looking past the marketing tie-in, the Fusion Vector base unit is ultimately a high-powered machine that's good for both work and play.

The headline components include a Core i7-8700K processor, 32GB of DDR4 memory and GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics. Wrapping said parts inside an eye-catching Corsair Crystal Series RGB chassis is a sure-fire way to create a potent build, but Chillblast has skipped some of the finer details. The bare memory sticks look out of place, an 80 Plus White PSU isn't befitting a build of this magnitude, and it's a shame neither the CPU nor GPU are overclocked as standard.

Neither of these missed opportunities can be deemed deal-breakers - performance is ultimately strong and the rig is handily placed for high-resolution gaming - yet given the £2,700 price tag it is fair to expect excellence in every aspect.

Bottom line: Fusion Vector has the makings of a formidable all rounder but needs a few small tweaks or a revised price tag in order to stand out from the crowd.
