Final thoughts and rating

Many consumers will be put off OCZ's RevoDrive X2 by its relatively-high asking price. But put the hardware in context, and you may find the RevoDrive X2 to be a reasonable prospect. Compared to four Vertex SSDs and a hardware RAID controller, OCZ's PCIe solution is both cheaper and a whole lot tidier, too.

The lack of TRIM support is a long-term concern, but whilst we haven't had an opportunity to test performance after the drive has been thoroughly worn in, we can state that speeds didn't dip after a couple of benchmarking sessions. And, let's face it, should performance eventually fade by, say, 10 per cent, the RevoDrive X2 will remain quicker than pretty much everything at this price point.

The £495 asking fee for the reviewed 240GB model will likely attract only enthusiast users, but if you've got the best part of half-a-grand to spend on storage, no single solution is as quick as the RevoDrive X2.

The Good

Sensational out-the-box performance
Cheaper and tidier than four Vertex SSDs and a RAID controller
Available in 100GB to 960GB capacities

The Bad

240GB model costs over £2 per gigabyte
No TRIM support

Exactly the model i was thinking of buying :D

Weather i do or not is mainly down to the cost of the 6970 and how much i can sell my pair of 6870's and 4870 for, i may have to cheap out and just raid some SSD's.

Either way a very useful review so i can see how it stacks up against a coupled of raided SSD's.
