Tagan are proud of the noise the TG480 doesn't make. Whisper quiet, even during the load test, it makes decidedly less noise than my Enermax, a supply I don't class as noisy. To hear the Tagan, you need your ears up close to the fan points; it's really quiet and a distinct selling point.

While it's a subjective opinion, Tagan's claims of < 1000rpm fan speed at less than 60% seem very true. Recommended if silence is your goal.

Conclusion

The conclusion will be short. Impressive test results, super quiet, good ratings for high current draw devices like Vapochills and a hefty sustained load rating of 480W, the Tagan impresses. Tagan haven't been around that long, but their employee pedigree, on the surface, seems to be impeccable. Other TG480 reviews around the web seem to echo my findings so I'm happy to recommend the supply if you're looking for something new.

Support for upcoming ATX, ATX12V and BTX standards means you'll be able to use it in a wide range of systems for quite some time, the sensible fan placement seems to be the key to its compliance.

Recommended if you're in the market for a new PSU, I can see Tagan becoming an enthusiasts choice in 2004. High quality is their aim, I think it hits the mark.
