After The Tweaks

I now felt it necessary to test it in a more action packed environment. Having played a large amount of Soldier of Fortune on my old wheel mouse I decided that it would be Wheel mouse vs. Boomslang.

The difference is very noticeable; I was spinning on the spot and firing with a greater accuracy than before. Where I wanted the sights to be, the sights were there. Well almost, in all honesty it did take a fair amount of playing before I got truly used to the mouse. At first I was over shooting and found myself spinning in a circle, when only wanting to look left. But after practice I realized how much of a difference the mouse made. I could flip between weapons faster, move further more rapidly and fire at a greater rate due to the large sensitive buttons.

After playing for a while, I decided to try it online to see if my online gaming performance had changed. At first I needed to get used to using the mouse the correctly but after a while I found it very good for online gaming.

So would I honestly use this mouse over my old beloved wheel mouse? Well as much as I loved my wheel mouse I'm afraid it has been placed on the inferior hardware shelf. Having used the Razor Boomslang now for about a week, I'm now adjusted to it sufficiently and it's just possibly once of the best bits of kit I have got.

Now I hear you ask what version do you recommend?
I have used both the 1000 model and the 2000 model; I can honestly say that I suggest the 2000. There is only once slight problem with the 2000. The two 2000’s we had on test here at hexus.com both seemed to squeak, in normal windows use this was semi-noticeable but in game playing it wasn’t. So if you are after the most configurable hardcore gamers mouse there is, get the Boomslang 2000. The 1000 is the same mouse but only half as sensitive.
