Introduction

Having been sent a Razor Boomslang 1000 and 2000, along with an OEM copy of Soldier of Fortune I felt it the right thing to do to review them both at the same time. The Razor Boomslang series of mice consists of two models the 1000 and the 2000, each number referring to it's DPI's (dots per inch), and designed with the gamer at heart. The mouse uses karna precision, and along with it operating at 6 MIPs (millions of instructions per second) it eats other mice for breakfast, lunch and supper. It also features a handy dust guard meaning your mouse will run smooth for longer without the need to be cleaned.

Having used a fair number of mice this one felt the strangest yet. Right from the beginning I knew I was in for something special. The mouse arrived in a metal tin, and upon opening the tin, I saw the mouse sitting there wrapped in foam. When I took it out when I knew it was something special. Unplugging my old Microsoft Wheel Mouse and plugging the boomslang's 7' cord in its place, I instantly noticed the difference without changing anything. I choose to use the ps2 connector rather than USB. The precision and speed at which the mouse moved at was unprecedented. I installed the supplied software - the Razor Customizor (discussed below) - and tweaked to my hearts content.
