Conclusion

...a noteworthy alternative to the Philips Momentum 32, but every monitor comes with a handful of caveats and the Asus is no exception.

The Asus CG32UQ is a likeable 4K HDR display capable of juggling both PC and console duties. With a 3,840x2,160 resolution, 95 per cent coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut and DisplayHDR 600 certification, the panel bodes well for high-res, high-contrast gaming and has the credentials to deliver convincing mid-range HDR visuals.

It is, on paper, a noteworthy alternative to the Philips Momentum 32, but every monitor comes with a handful of caveats and the Asus is no exception. A 60Hz refresh rate is at odds with the price tag, limitations such as black crush are an inevitable by-product of VA technology, and though gaming on the CG32UQ is ultimately an enjoyable experience, there's room for improvement in overall presentation.

While the USB hub integrated in the base is a good idea, the monitor as a whole has a plasticky feel about it, and the 'Halo Sync' RGB lights aren't as immersive as we'd hoped. Add to that a laggy, over-stylised OSD, and the £785 asking fee becomes increasingly difficult to justify.

Bottom line: the Asus CG32UQ delivers on its promise of 4K HDR gaming, but a price adjustment may be needed if it is to stand out from the competition.

The Good

The Bad
A fine fit for both console and PC
Does a decent job with HDR visuals

Bundled remote control

Plasticky look and feel

ASUS has that problem with everything they release…they think they're something special (which they're not) and price accordingly.
for the asking price big pass here.. can get better for around same price or lower
