Conclusion

...an ultra-wide 3,440x1,440 resolution that bodes well for productivity and creates an immersive environment for both work and play.

A scattering of modern display technologies make it difficult to find the perfect panel. Resolution, viewing angles, response time, adaptive framerate technology, HDR, form factor and I/O options are just some of the variables to contend with, and there's plenty of innovation on the horizon.

Hoping to find an optimal balance for a wide range of consumers, the Philips Brilliance 349X7FJEW doesn't eclipse its rivals in any one category but is capable in most regards, making it an accomplished solution and, arguably, one of our favourite panels to date.

Beautifully designed with slim bezels and a sumptuous curve, the 34in display offers an ultra-wide 3,440x1,440 resolution that bodes well for productivity and creates an immersive environment for both work and play. Though not nearly as popular as 4K UHD, we feel as though the UWQHD resolution is better suited to the performance level of today's top graphics cards, and the Philips panel doubles as a competent gaming solution with FreeSync support at up to 100Hz.

Factor in a versatile stand, an integrated USB 3.0 hub and value-adds such as wide viewing angles and picture-in-picture, and you have an excellent all-rounder. It's a pricey proposition at Ā£759, and prosumers may be left wanting more in terms of colour accuracy and brightness, yet the Philips Brilliance 349X7FJEW ticks a lot of the right boxes and is a fine choice for anyone looking to migrate to an ultra-wide screen.
