Final thoughts and rating
The release of many triple-A gaming titles has again coincided with the run-up to Christmas. Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: MW 3, Elder Scrolls: Skyrim are but four we're looking forward to. Ask anyone in the know and they'll tell you these games look so much nicer on a modern PC.
We reckon that spending £150 on a graphics card is enough to play new games at a 1080p resolution complemented by high-quality settings. XFX hopes you'll spend that money on the HD 6870 1GB DD XXX card and it has good reason to be hopeful. Offering an enviable mix of decent performance, low noise and temperatures, it's a safe and solid bet.
Being critical, perhaps XFX should push this XXX model further in the factory, for it ships with a miniscule overclock, and voltage support would be, as always, a good idea. That said, we feel you won't be disappointed with the purchase, but just remember to keep some money spare for these new games.
The Good
Quiet and relatively cool
Still has room to overclock
Performs well at a 1080p resolution
The Bad
No GPU voltage support
