Final thoughts and rating
KFA2 has looked at the GeForce GTX 480 and reckoned that the best method of launching a substantially pre-overclocked card is to take the highest-yielding GPU and then place it on a board with the largest air-cooled heatsink it can find. The sum of this approach is the KFA2 GeForce GTX 480 LTD OC Anarchy, which ships with frequencies of 760MHz core and 3,800MHz memory. The massive Arctic Cooling heatsink-and-fan unit keeps the GPU cool when gaming - below 60°C when running Crysis - and is relatively quiet even after extended periods of play. There's also scope to push the card well past 800MHz core, should you feel so inclined.
Benchmark numbers show that it is the fastest single-GPU card that we've tested. However, it's not the fastest graphics card around - that honour still lies with the Radeon HD 5970. In spite of the terrific competition posed by multi-GPU setups at around the KFA2's asking price of £410, we can recommend it to enthusiasts who want to buy a well-constructed NVIDIA card that's hot in performance but cool everywhere else.
The Good
Ships at high frequencies for a GTX 480
Massive cooler does a very good job at keeping the GPU cool-ish
Scope for overclocking comfortably past 800MHz
The Bad
Hot air circulates in the chassis
Meagre bundle
