--- Appearance, Specification and Compatibility

Appearance

Compatibility is another claimed selling-point with the NT-06, which is said to be shaped to fit into the socket space provided by most current motherboards.

Our Intel test board is one of the most crowded in the socket area, so should be a pretty good test of the claim.

The NT-06 has a pure copper base with a finned aluminium sink holding three 8mm-thick heat-pipes. These in turn hold up the main heat-sink. Weight is 570g – relatively light in the present company – and dimensions with a fan attached are 148(h) x 111(w) x 126(d)mm. So, the NT-06 is pretty compact. It's just a shame that the FM122 cooling fan is a full 32mm deep.

The finned copper heat-sink has a zinc coating that gives the NT-06 the silver colour you see in our images. Coupled with the black shroud, it's actually rather nice to look at.

As part of the package, SilverStone also includes a fan-controller mounted on a rear break-out plate. This has simple Lo-Hi markings and, fortunately, fits through the case hole without needing its control knob removed. Overall then, it's pretty nice to look at and, on paper, seems like it might give its competitors a run for their money.
