--- Thermal Performance, Conclusion and Certification

Thermal Performance

Up to time when the NT-01 came aboard, thermal results had generally been okay or, at least, reasonable.

But with a CPU idle temperature of 63 degrees - 11 degrees higher than its nearest competitor- the NT-01 managed to make last place its very own.

We kind of knew that the situation under load wasn't going to be anything but worse and so it turned out. Peak CPU load temperature was a pretty horrid 108 degrees - 20 degrees hotter than the cooler positioned above it in 26th place. This was not good.

Conclusion

The NT-01 is clearly showing its age or, at very least, it's lack of suitability for use with a CPU that chucks out a significant amount of heat.

And this, we should remind you, is a revised version that we're presuming offers improved performance. It doesn't bear thinking how dire the MkI must have been given that V2 seems to be a waste of space, time and money. Yes, we do think this is one to avoid – unless you know for sure that your CPU actually doesn't need any cooling.

Certification

The SilverStone NT-01 failed to achieve certification.
