Appropriately enough, the NT-01 is the smallest cooler on test. Dimensions of 108(h) x 141(w) x 105(d) mm mean that its heat-sink is only able to hold two 60mm fans.
We had no suitable fans to hand, so only tested the product in its passive form – which we thought fair enough since fanless operation and zero-noise are the main selling story on the retail package
A pure copper base holds three heat pipes and carries a heat-sink on top. Although it's not screamingly obvious in any of the shots we took, our sample was a bit lop-sided. Weight of the NT-01 is 572g - surprisingly heavy considering its diminutive size.
The aluminium shroud on the heat-sink bears the SilverStone logo and is covered by a protective layer that needs to be removed before use, something we didn't find terribly easy to do.
The shape of the NT-01 is also a little odd, given that most cases now have the rear fan exactly in line with the CPU socket. As a result, we weren't expecting the NT-01's offset design to take maximum advantage of the available airflow.
Fact is, though, since the NT-01 is mainly intended for use in an HTPC layout, it's a little odd that SilverStone even choose to send it in to compete in review such as this using a standard PC case and a high-heat LGA 775 processor.
