Conclusion

The simple, sleek exterior is inviting and the £75 price tag is in line with expectations, but a few internal niggles prevent the enclosure from hitting all the right notes.

The emergence of PC enclosures that focus on specific usage scenarios has highlighted potential drawbacks in chassis that attempt to shoehorn as much as possible into a mid-tower frame.

In an effort to cover all bases and appeal to a wider audience, Cooler Master's Silencio 652S is open to multiple configuration options but doesn't excel in any one particular area. The simple, sleek exterior is inviting and the £75 price tag is in line with expectations, but a few internal niggles prevent the enclosure from hitting all the right notes.

A lack of space behind the motherboard tray makes cable management more challenging than it should have been, the array of storage bays stifle airflow, and for a chassis focussed on keeping noise levels down to a minimum, the supplied fans aren't as high quality as we'd hoped.

Cooler Master is just a few small tweaks away from an ideal sound-dampened enclosure, and we look forward to a subsequent release that addresses our aforementioned concerns. As it stands, the Silencio 652S may find it difficult to compete in a fiercely contested marketplace full of many worthy alternatives.

The Good

The Bad
Simple, sleek exterior
Lots of storage bays
Multiple dust filters
Integrated SD card reader

Fans could be quieter still
Front door not reversible
Limited space behind mobo tray

I'm somewhat surprised the Carbide 300R wasn't in the comparison. As I own it myself, this case seems to be a very slightly more feature rich version for a slightly higher price and therefore I may use it if I have any other builds in the near future. Easy enough to go look at benchmarks from previous reviews however, but seems like an interesting contender for this comparison even if it isnt necessarily aimed at being a quiet case.
Its about time they change the standard for power cables in PC's. Surely they can get the power to motherboard in a much smaller cluster of cables.
love the case but need more space!!

I totally agree. Technology has advanced far enough for them to consider more efficient cabling for PCs. The motherboard has been powered by the same type of ATX cable since the 90s (correct me if I'm wrong)
The main problem with the mATX Silencio 352 is lack of space behind the tray for cabling, other than that it's a great case for the money. Why the hell didn't they fix this for it's bigger brother?
