The world's largest PC maker is updating its integrated home PCs this week with the introduction of the HP Touchsmart 310 and the all-new Omni 100.
The sleek Touchsmart 20in all-in-one (AiO) is a refresh of the older touch-enabled PCs in the same family. It features a 1,600x900px resolution screen, a low-power 2.8GHz AMD Athlon II X2 240e, 4GB RAM and an integrated Radeon HD 4270 for graphical-duties. There are also the options to upgrade to 2TB mechanical storage and an integrated TV tuner.
HP has tried to put the touchscreen to good use by including its revamped Touchsmart software suite. As well as direct integration with social-networking sites, the utility features a variety of applications including a comic book viewer with access to Marvel's digital back-catalogue.
The Omni 100 may not feature a touchscreen, but it looks like a much more focused machine that sticks firmly to the idea of simplicity. The AiO will drop down to an ultra low-power 1.8GHz Athlon II X2 260u but includes the same Radeon integrated chipset as the Touchsmart 310 to drives the 20in 1,600x900px screen. You'll also get a 500GB hard-drive and 3GB RAM as standard.
While the specs on the Omni are a little weaker than the new Touchsmart, it also comes at a lower price. The Omni 100 will start at a very affordable $499 (£389 inc VAT) when it launches on September 22, while the Touchsmart 310 will start at $699 (£545 inc VAT) - $50 less than the current entry level touch-enabled AiO.
HP hasn't given any details on UK availability, but we expect these new desktops to join the company's existing AiO range in the coming weeks.
