Taiwanese NAS specialist QNAP has been a little quiet in terms of product launches since the arrival of the enterprise-orientated TS-509 Pro Turbo back in August '08.

That silence, however, can be forgiven as the manufacturer has been hard at work on this; the business-class TS-639 Pro Turbo NAS.

The newly-designed six-bay unit is said to feature an industrial look and has enough room to allow for each hot-swappable drive to be mounted vertically. The result is improved heat dissipation and less trapped air, says QNAP.

It's powered by a 1.6GHz Intel processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory and provides support for RAID 0/1/5/6/5+spare configurations. The TS-639 Pro Turbo supports 1.5TB hard-disk drives, and features two Gigabit Ethernet ports allowing for failover support, five USB ports and two eSATA connectors, too.

QNAP's mammoth feature list can be viewed at the official product website, and if you like what you see, the TS-639 Pro Turbo can be purchased from Scan.co.uk* at a cost of Ā£919.99.
