Hot on the heels of Thecus' ambition of enterprise supremacy, Taiwan-based NAS competitor QNAP has announced its five-bay TS-509 Turbo NAS.
The all-in-one NAS server, aimed at SMB and enterprise users, is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron processor and 1GB of DDR2 memory.
All of QNAP's usual NAS features are available, but there's a healthy number of additions for mission-critical business users. The TS-509 Pro Turbo's Linux OS and applications are embedded in Disk-on-Module (DOM) memory to provide higher stability.
In addition, the dual Gigabit LAN ports can be configured as Failover, Load balancing, or serving two different subnets to enable further deployment options in a business network environment.
The device offers five hot-swappable drive bays, allowing up to 5TB of storage, with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 5+Spare and JBOD configurations.
Kent Tsai, research and development manager at QNAP, said:
The TS-509 Pro Turbo NAS is designed for business users that require a NAS server of performance, capacity, features, and manageability. QNAP's powerful RAID protection feature helps modern business protect their valuable information assets and enhance secure data sharing over the network. We are confident that the TS-509 Pro is an ideal solution for them.
Pricing is yet to be announced, but further details on all of its features are available at the official QNAP TS-509 Pro Turbo product page.
