Patriot announces premium 'Sector 7' memory for Intel X58 boards

Over 18 months on from launch, the X58 platform is still represents the pinnacle of Intel's consumer line-up, and it's the only way to go if you want a six-core Intel chip.

Most X58 chipset-based motherboards are outfitted with six DIMM slots, providing triple-channel DDR3 memory support. Patriot is further supporting the platform with the availability of Viper II Series 'Sector 7' modules.

Memory
Patriot is launching DDR3 memory packs at 1,600MHz, 1,800MHz and 2,000MHz speeds. The 1,600MHz kits will be available in 6GB (3 x 2GB), 12GB (3 x 4GB) and 24GB (6 x 4GB) packs, with the 6GB and 12GB sets available in both low-latency (8-8-8-24) and enhanced-latency (9-9-9-24) versions, while the 24GB set is limited to 9-9-9-24 timings.

Meanwhile, the 1,800MHz and 2,000MHz-rated kits are to be sold in 6GB (3 x 2GB) packs with 9-9-9-27 timings. All Sector 7 modules are rated at 1.65V - the maximum recommended by Intel for Core i7 chips - and are programmed with XMP settings.

The set is fairly generic in most respects, and the standout feature is support for 24GB of memory, but there's no word on pricing, however.

Seems fairly standard though and I'm guessing the pricing will be standard too.

Would be nice if DDR3 price drops but with the way the economy is going even if it does we might not see it :(

sector 5 has been great, comes with a free 3d mark vantage code too
