Sharp's multi-screen display is how Eyefinity ought to be played

We dig AMD's ATI Eyefinity technology here at HEXUS, but we're also first to admit that display bezels can detract from the overall experience - particularly when it comes to gaming.

Monitors with ultra-thin frames are the answer, and though Samsung has already introduced one promising solution, it looks as though Sharp is hoping to go one better.

What you're looking at here is the Sharp multi-screen display system, which consists of an array of 60in LED-backlit LCD panels - each offering a 1,366x768 resolution.

Not a whole lot of pixels considering the screen size, but note the incredibly thin bezels - courtesy of which the combined gap between displays is said to measure just 6.5mm.

Sounds tailor-made for a session of Crysis, we reckon, but Sharp has other ideas. The multi-screen display system will be targeting presentation spaces in Asia following a Japanese launch in August 2010.

There's no mention of pricing, but we do know the displays offer an impressive 700 cd/mĀ² brightness and a choice of VGA or HDMI connectivity.

Are you thinking what we're thinking? 12 Sharp displays in a 4x3 configuration, a PowerColor GPU, a littering of HDMI to DisplayPort cables and a total resolution of 5,464x2,304 sure would be fun.

Methinks there's a mistake in there. Either that or some very, very weird specs and a screen which won't fit on a wall.
60" LCD with a resolution of 1366x768????

these are dreadfully low res for a screen of that size. Anyone else thinking that someone has just simply re-used some surplus screen stock and bunged a micro bezel on it? I can't believe it's such a big deal to put as little frame around these as possible.
I can believe it tbh - if it's designed for advertising, then it'll be hovering way above people's heads, probably off the roof in a train station or something. That res is perfect for showing text clearly on a big screen, considering the distance that people will be viewing it from.

Not got anything to do with Eyefinity from Sharp's perspective.

Yuck, yuck, yuck. “offering”!? That's not an offering!

Shush, it's no longer polically correct to say this. (Although I do agree…)
