HP today announced refreshed models in its Pavilion x360 and Envy x360 convertible PC ranges. The main changes come in the form of newer generation Intel processors and the replacement of Beats Audio with Bang & Olufsen Play.
CNet reports that HP is offering a good amount of customisation to allow end users to tweak the x360 convertible models to their liking. The report says that nearly all the new models offer a choice of AMD or Intel processors, with built-in touch and non-touch displays and in HD (1,366x768) or Full HD (1,920x1,080) resolutions. Many are priced below the $500 mark.
The Pavilion x360 models are numerous. There are two screen sizes of 11 and 13-inches to choose from and the permutations mentioned above. Those interested in the 11-inch Pavilion x360 can buy a fanless Intel Core M powered device or opt for a Celeron or Pentium-based machine. You can spec up to 8GB of RAM and enjoy over 8 hours of battery life with this model, reports Liliputing.
The larger 13-inch Pavilion x360 isn't fanless but can be specified with a powerful Core i5 Broadwell processor. The 13-incher's battery life can be as long as 13 hours according to HP. Both the 11 and 13-inch Pavilion x360 offer various storage options, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 x USB 2.0 port, an Ethernet port and an SD card reader.
Liliputing listed three configurations with prices as follows:
- 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, Pentium N3700, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive for $410
- 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, Core M-5Y10C, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD for $500
- 13.3 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, Core i3 CPU, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD for $530
The above Pavilion x360 convertibles will start to become available from 13th May via HP.com.
HP's updated 2015 version of its Envy x360 convertible offers a step up in finish, materials and screen size. This convertible has a 15.6-inch screen. It's potentially more powerful too, as buyers can specify a Core i5 or i7 processor and up to 16GB of RAM. The specification of a touch screen and screen resolution (HD or FHD) is up to the buyer as are choices of RAM and SSD/HDD. With this convertible you also get the option of a midrange discrete GPU from Nvidia.
The updated Envy x360 convertible will become available from HP starting 13th May and from other retailers from 21st June. The base model will cost $679.
