Apple has refreshed a number of its online stores to allow consumers from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK to place orders for the iPad.

The device, pictured below and available to pre-order immediately, will officially launch in the aforementioned regions on May 28th, with Apple guaranteeing launch-day delivery.

Unlike the staggered release in the US, both the standard Wi-Fi iPad and the iPad 3G are both scheduled to launch simultaneously, with UK prices starting from £429 and £529, respectively for 16GB models.

With the Apple online store now taking orders, further details have also been revealed in regards to 3G data plans from O2, Orange and Vodafone.

Apple's information suggests O2 and Orange will both offer daily browsing plans priced at £2 per day, whilst all three service providers will offer monthly plans facilitating at least 3GB of usage at a charge of £15.

The iPad has already sold over one million units in the US, and looks set to replicate the success of the iPhone.

Not much changes does it? We still have to pay $644 for the exact same product that our American cousins pay $499 for. That's also more expensive than the equivalent IPad with 3G which comes in at $629 US.

Anyone buying an iPad at UK prices needs their head examining! :stop:
I remember seeing a discussion on this on a forum. The US prices exclude sales tax. Once you take off our VAT there was only a $40 premium. I don't know what iPad was used for this price dissection though. $40 too much IMHO but less than what you might think.
Yay
