News continues to slip out prior to Apple's notebook event at 6pm this evening, and the latest revelation comes from Chinese website MacHome.com.cn.

The details come in the form of images that depict a 15in MacBook Pro chassis with a removable underside section allowing access to the hard-disk drive and battery. According to the original poster, it allows for users to upgrade the two components as they see fit.

Apple is renowned for shipping portable products such as its iPod and iPhone with built-in batteries that can only be removed or replaced by the manufacturer itself. Although recent MacBooks contain removable batteries, detachable components such as those shown below could soon be found on the majority of Apple's devices in response to the EU's recently-enforced battery directive. Check out the images below.

upgrading the HDD, thats fantastic news!
Battery is removable in the current Macbook pro (I took my GFs out the other day) but admit being able to get at the hard drive to upgrade easily is a real bonus :)
It was then, I Steve Jobs, INVENTED the removable hard drive, just a few decades after seeing it in all the other laptops that any company in their right mind would buy.
Edit - Ignore me, I got confused by the mention of Macbook in the thread and article titles but Macbook Pro in the article itself.
Hang on, so you pull that little lever thingy and the WHOLE front part of the mac comes off?!
I hope they are faked as yes its great to have removeable battery and hard drive but that is the worst idea and design I have ever seen!
For most people who need to swap the battery (NOT COUNTING THE DEAD ONES!!!), it's beacuse they are on the road, need more power n theyve got a spare in the bag, so its a quick 2mins to swap them over. But if thats got the hard drive in as well then surely that means u need to image and copy the drive everytime?!
I hope to god I'm missing something here and that is only the battery with the hard drive still in the ‘main’ bulk of the chassis just at the side and easy to get to. But even so, I do not like that design at all, how many ppl will drop their macs and itll completely smash the casing off around the connectors?
If I've completely missed the design here please put me right (No need to be nasty about it though!) as I really cannot see how they would allow a design like that!
