Rumours of revolutionary MacBook systems have been doing the rounds in previous weeks, and Apple has today confirmed that "the spotlight turns to notebooks" at a press event on October 14th.

Next Tuesday's event will take place at Apple's campus in Cupertino, California, and the invitation alone has sent the world's tech media into something of a frenzy.

Rumours of of an all-new manufacturing process, codenamed Brick, have suggested that Apple's upcoming MacBook systems will be built at an all-new Apple-owned plant that will use 3D lasers and jets of water to carve MacBook chassis out of bricks of aluminium.

With hordes of Apple followers already licking their lips, news then broke of a potential new MacBook entry price of $799 - some $300 lower than the cheapest model currently available. Could Apple be preparing an answer to the low-cost netbook systems that have rapidly proven to be popular?

It's all conjecture for the time being, but we'll have all the details in just a few days.

Yeah same. I know this is a rumour, but this would be nice! Macbook Touch

If they release a kind of “netbook”, then I would seriously consider buying one.
I just hope that these machines will have the 4870/4870x2 driver added to the OS ;)
I'm looking for a new laptop, and unless these apple products are silly money, then I will go for one.
