Video shows AMD's Trinity APU at work

This week, AMD showed the successor to its Llano APU - Trinity - running Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

While there are no pictures of the APU itself, we're told that it was sitting-pretty in a generic laptop chassis, and doing its thing one block away from IDF, in San Francisco, CA.

 

 

The video above - courtesy of AnandTech - has arrived to show the Trinity APU at work. It's also suggested that Llano will be superseded by Trinity, in early 2012.

But are manufacturers actually going to use them in lapops as i havent seen many Llano systems advertised?!

Ebuyer have a fair few llano system in stock at the minute - browse laptops, then click AMD Fusion under CPU type. It's a mix of E-series and A-series APUs. The A-series seem to start at about £400 though, which is a bit pricey for the performance of the entry level APUs…

EDIT: Here's a linky to a Llano-based Thinkpad Edge: It uses the A4-3300M which is a 1.9GHz (2.5GHz Turbo) dual core processor and a 240 shader iGPU @ 444MHz. It's not bad for a £420 laptop, really. £40 extra will get you the A6-3400 version: 1.4Ghz (2.3GHz turbo) quad core + 320 shader iGPU @ 400MHz. I'm torn as to whether £460 is too much for a low-clocked Phenom quad though, even with the decent graphics…

Interesting to see that they have this up and running to show off. Have now seen more of the future Trinity APU running than the just round the corner Zambezi

Anyone have a confirmation as to what socket Trinity will run in yet, I think the last I saw mentioned was socket FMx ? If that doesn't include backward compatibility with FM1, well I'd be very miffed if I had just bought a Llano with the thought of a decent upgrade option later on.

I really can't believe both Anand and Hexus missed this.

There's not really anything generic about it at all - it's a Dell Vostro chassis with an AMD logo slapped on it. Looks like the 3400 specifically.

I am looking forward to the Trinity laptops next year. Current laptop has an Intel 4500 graphics card which is not so good and these look much better!
