AMD's FX-Series CPUs get listed for pre-order

Following on from rumours indicating a delayed launch timeframe, some of AMD's upcoming FX-Series parts have popped-up for pre-order, at Bottom Line Telecommunications (BLT).

As seen above, the 3.6GHz FX-8150 is listed at $266.28 US Dollars, followed by the 3.1GHz FX-8120 (in its 125W iteration), which is listed at $221.73 US Dollars.

The 3.3GHz FX-6100 is listed at $188.32 US Dollars, but there's no appearance (yet) of the remaining expected launch line-up.

so about £201.50 for the 8150 and £167.7 for the 8120 if AMD dont screw us over (and providing this is actually a correct US price!).

So taking just the estimated cpu price and ignoring motherboard prices for now, it would be nice to see the chips comparable to:

FX-8150 vs I7 2600 Sandy Bridge (£225… the 8150 is quite a bit cheaper really, hmm)
FX-8120 vs I5 2500k Sandy bridge (£165 very close pricing)

Will be interesting to see how well BD performs… im debating whether or not to get the 8170/50/20 as i have watercooling there should be alot of room to overclock but since its their first relatively new design in along time then the first gen might be bad with head room… hmm price is the deciding factor perhaps!.

Well £600 set aside for my new build, motherboard ram cpu and a gpu from a later date (amd 7 series and nvidia 6 series… who will win and when :D)

don't forget US pricing is usually done without sales tax, so add an extra 20% for that and you're looking at more like £240 and £200, neatly sandwiching the i7 2600. In which case, we better hope that the 8150 outperforms an i7 2600, I guess ;)

Ignore that, having just done the calcs properly I think you've already allowed for VAT! :embarrassed:

haha, yeah i have accounted for the 20% vat :) so many people forget this which is why i always make a concious effort to add it :P

As long as all chips can be OC'ed and there is none of this K business then AMD will do well
