Known to most of you as a purveyor of decent chassis and power supplies, Antec has looked to diversify away from its core business by launching AMP - Antec Mobile Products - a lifestyle sub-brand that focusses on headphones, wireless speakers and so forth.
Having written on technology for more than a decade, Antec's chassis were amongst the very best in the business, though I feel as if the combination of recent releases that have been average more than extraordinary and the quality of the competition's products have left Antec in a somewhat difficult position.
Putting the focus back on chassis at CES 2013, the soon-to-be-released GX700 caught my eye. It's a budget chassis with a gaming bias, and it carries all the basic features one would expect, including USB 3.0 ports, flip-access fan controller, three pre-attached fans, space for a top-mounted 240mm radiator, seven PCI slots, five drive bays with SSD mounts, and space for graphics cards that are up to 11.5in long.
Feeling reassuringly hefty and putting focus on ruggerdised looks more than quietness, here's Antec's Justin Chou giving HEXUS the visual tour and rundown. I was pleasantly surprised when I learnt the price, so take a guess in the forums - without consulting Google - and see if your prediction matches up with reality. I'll update this article in a few hours with the MSRP... and you may want to put it on your shortlist when you find out.
