LONDON, UK – ASUS Republic of Gamers and SCAN Computers are delighted to announce their involvement with the new ABB Formula E Race At Home Challenge in support of UNICEF, raising funds to keep children around the world safe, healthy and educated during the current global coronavirus crisis.

The ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge will feature teams and drivers from the ABB FIA Formula E Championship competing over nine week season using Studio 397’s rFactor 2 software. Each driver has been sent a purpose built racing setup with a new Formula E simulator setup from Playseat and a wheel and pedal set from Fanatec complete with a full ROG Monitor and PC setup, built by SCAN Computers.

Alongside the professional Formula E grid, there will be a second championship that will run in parallel with gamers and influencers racing against each other, following a qualification period, with the winner given the chance to secure real-life track time during a future Formula E race weekend.

Working closely with SCAN Computers, all 24 of the custom built Sim Racing PCs were constructed using ROG motherboards and graphics cards, along with ROG monitors, headsets and other ASUS gaming peripherals in an incredibly short turnaround period. The system is designed to give parity to all drivers as well as the power to both stream and race in rFactor2.

“Preparing the setup for the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge has been an incredible experience,” says ROG PR Marketing Specialist, Sean Cleaver. “Our focus throughout the Coronavirus crisis has been to make sure that everyone can Stay Connected, whether they are working from home, learning or gaming while at home. Sim racing has played an amazing role over the last few weeks in keeping the drivers, teams and hundreds of thousands of motorsport fans connected, and we’re honoured to work with SCAN in order to help bring this series to life and raise awareness and funds for UNICEF. It has been an incredible effort from all the partners involved.”

“Scan has a rich heritage of creating state-of-the-art PCs for racing simulators, so we were delighted to be able to contribute to this project with our partners at Formula E and ASUS,” says SCAN Computer’s Matt Hindley. “We’re very proud to be involved in raising funds for UNICEF and to support the motor racing community at this challenging time”.

The ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge kicks off with a pre-season test this Saturday April 18th and will broadcast globally across the Formula E Facebook, YouTube Twitch and Twitter platforms, with the coverage of the full season also broadcast to Formula E’s network of broadcast partners from April 25th with the full Formula E World broadcast team calling the action remotely.
