Mérignac, France - 1 June, 2011 - PNY, a provider of high quality products for everything in and around the computer, is pleased to announce that it has become a long-term sponsor of British polar filmmaker, Scott Gilmour.
The company, which manufactures high-speed, quality Flash cards for both amateur and professional use, agreed to support Scott by providing him with the memory and graphics card solutions he required to photograph, film and edit the coverage of his various expeditions.
The Yukon Arctic Ultra 2011, Canada
The first adventure that Scott took PNY's products on was the Yukon Arctic Ultra - one of the world's coldest and toughest races at no less than 430 miles long! He used the products to produce a film on the event that took place in February, which will be broadcast internationally across 160 countries shortly by Transworld Sport.
"The Yukon production could not have taken part without the tremendous support provided by PNY. As an extreme filmmaker having the right equipment that can deal with harsh conditions is as essential as the man behind the camera. I used PNY's professional cards - the SDHC Class 10 range - for their ability to function in extreme cold, their speed and performance," commented Scott.
"The Yukon video project was a challenging one. Temperatures were consistently below -30°C and whilst I was filming, they often dropped below -45°C. This is a real test of equipment and durability - I specifically chose equipment that would be reliable and the ability of PNY's SDHC cards to function at such low temperatures was quite frankly remarkable, given the extended exposure to extreme cold they received. They never let me down," he added.
PNY supported Scott with both the production and post-production stages of the project: "The Quadro 4000 graphics card that PNY also supplied is an outstanding piece of production equipment when used in conjunction with Adobe's CS5 platform. When working with HD content it is important to have as much firepower at your disposal as possible and the ability to process through the graphics adapter makes a huge time saving. Being able to work across multiple platforms such as editing, compositing and 3D graphics makes production a more streamlined affair."
