Headsets have become a convenient device for keeping noise to a minimum. Unfortunately, most home audio systems are not so mobile and you need to stay tethered by a cable when using your headsets. Recent wireless headsets have targeted this issue but not without some problems. A wireless headset must use a receiving device to receive audio signals and many of the recent wireless headsets use a built-in receiver resulting in a bulky uncomfortable headset.
With the Albatron Widio system the receiver itself is set apart from the headset and can be worn on your belt or placed in one of your pockets. Secondly, Widio does not use a specialized headset. You can use any of the lightweight headsets or earbuds available at almost any audio store. You simply attach the headset to the receiver that you carry with you.
Setting up the Widio system is quick and easy. There are 2 basic components: the transceiver and the receiver (as mentioned). The transceiver is connected to your audio system (stereo, DVD, TV etc.) using a standard audio cable. The audio system sends the audio signals to the transceiver which in turn uses RF (radio frequencies) to broadcast the signals. The receiver is a small, portable device (about the size of a deck of cards) that you carry with you and is attached to your headset. It receives these radio signals and then forwards them to the headset.
Several transceivers can be attached to different audio systems such as a computer, DVD player, TV etc. These individual transceivers can simultaneously broadcast their own audio using their own unique channels. The receiver can scan to any of these channels by using a scan button. Up to 7 channels (or transceivers) can be setup in one area.
The transceiver’s maximum signal range is 50 meters (line of sight) and has a very high penetration frequency (through walls). The bandwidth is 2.4 Ghz and can deliver data at 2 Mbps without the need for any data compression/decompression, guaranteeing uninterrupted audio quality. The Widio system is not limited to any audio format.
The transceiver has two charging slots, one for the receiver and the other for charging a spare battery. The receiver uses a commonly used mobile phone battery, the Nokia 8 series battery. The receiver also provides FM radio functionality.
With the Widio system you can basically go anywhere and do anything in your house or office while listening to your favorite selections. Furthermore, you can enjoy the comforts of your own headset. It's convenient, ergonomic and easy to install. The Widio system, a good idea put to good use.
