The SiS165/165U has also been designed to accommodate the latest IEEE 802.11h standard for Dynamic Channel/Frequency Selection (DCS/DFS) and Transmit Power Control(TPC), which is a protocol that reduces interference with other WLAN users. This standard is required for EU member countries.
The SiS165/165U are based on the proven design of the SiS163 WLAN controller, which has proven to be the most popular WLAN controller on the market, with companies such as Cameo, CNet, CC&C, Globalsuntech Sun and Xinetron utilizing the SiS solution.
The SiS165/165U are the smallest WLAN controllers on the market by using a smaller circuit layout, without sacrificing performance or cost. As well, the SiS165/165U do not require additional Flash or SRAM, further reducing size and weight, making the SiS165/165U ideal for mobile customers. Moreover, the SiS165U supports the Compact Flash 1.4 interface for digital cameras, PDAs and the upcoming "smart phones".
The SiS165/165U’s hardware circuit engine supports 64/128 bit WEP/WPA 2.0 encryption coding for the IEEE 802.11i standard to provide exceptional data security capacity. In addition, SiS165/165U meets the requirements of FCC, Wi-Fi and WHQL and the IEEE 802.11e Quality of Service standard, which ensures Video on Demand and VOIP customers will enjoy uninterrupted high quality data flow.
SiS also supports the Linux, WinCE 4.2, and WinCE .NET environments and providing NDIS drivers (such as Win9x/ME/2000/XP/NT 4.0), diagnostic programs and EEPROM setup tools for the SiS165/165U. For the AMD Athlon™64 market, the SiS165/165U is ready with the latest AMD Athlon™64 drivers to ensure the best performance in Athlon™64-based systems.
"The WLAN market has enormous potential," said Daniel Chen, President and CEO of SiS. "The SiS165/165U offer vendors the best solution to take advantage of the growing WLAN market."
