PRESS RELEASE

  • 16:10 aspect ratio for less scrolling when working with applications
  • Sustainable eco-design with Power Sensor saves up to 80% energy costs

  • LowBlue Mode for eye-friendly productivity

  • IPS technology for full colours and wide viewing angle

Amsterdam, 8 December 2016 – MMD, the leading technology company and brand license partner for Philips Monitors, announces two new 24-inch LCD displays that work for the health of users as well as the planet. Packed with eco and user-friendly design features, these displays include an integrated PowerSensor to turn power off when no one is at the desk; and a special LowBlue mode to cut the amount of blue light exposure for the eyes. Combined with the colour performance and wide viewing angles of IPS technology, the 16:10 aspect ratio as well as advanced connectivity with USB 3.0, they are displays to improve productivity in any modern office.

Wellbeing at work

Commenting on the user-friendly productivity of the new displays, Artem Khomenko, Product Manager Philips monitors Europe at MMD says, “At home and at work, people routinely log many hours of screen time every day. These displays are part of our ongoing commitment to developing innovative products that keep people working productively and healthily even when hours are long.”

Keeping eyes fresh and healthy is key to better wellbeing at work. However, excessive exposure to the blue light of displays can potentially harm vision. The LowBlue mode in the new 240B7QPJEB/240B7QPTEB LCD displays counters this impact. Developed to enhance wellbeing, LowBlue mode uses a smart software technology to reduce the shortwave blue light. LowBlue mode is complemented by Philips Flicker-free technology, a solution to regulate brightness and reduce flicker for more comfortable viewing. The displays also feature the SmartErgoBase, which users can tilt, swivel and height-adjust to their personal preference for a more comfortable viewing experience. As a useful side benefit, the base also keeps cables neat and tidy.

Displays with eco credentials

These new Philips Monitors displays were developed with eco-friendly productivity in mind. They are made from 85% post-consumer recycled plastics with TCO Edge, minimising the environmental impact of production. In operation, they save energy highly effectively through the PowerSensor, an integrated “people sensor” that transmits and receives harmless infrared signals to determine if a user is present, and automatically reduces monitor brightness whenever the user moves away. This cuts the energy bill by up to 80% and prolongs the monitor life.

Brilliant display performance

Eco credentials apart, the new displays also deliver where it matters most: on brilliant viewing quality. Advanced IPS technology creates extra-wide viewing angles of 178/178 degrees for viewing from almost any angle – even nearly side-on. No matter if users work with big charts or multiple-page documents – thanks to the 16:10 aspect ratio, the 240B7QPJEB/240B7QPTEB are perfect for all kinds of office applications as they offer more space. Users will also appreciate the sharp images and vivid colours that demand consistent colour accuracy and brightness. The ultra-narrow screen border reduces distraction and makes the displays ideal for multi-screen or tiled setups. The displays of course also deliver the same quality viewing to photos and movies.

Professional connectivity

Responding to the need to connect efficiently to a whole range of data sources, these new displays are equipped with VGA, DisplayPort and universal HDMI. And for super-fast transfer, they also feature Super Speed USB 3.0, enabling data to be sent at a blazing 5.0 gbit per second (around 10 times the speed of USB 2.0). The USB interface is backward-compatible, so users can continue to source data from their USB 2.0 devices.

The new Philips 240B7QPJEB/240B7QPTEB LCD displays are available now for an RRP of £289.00/£299.00 respectively.
