DFI
launches DDR Motherboard adopting VIA KT266A with RAID function - AD70

After
introducing AD72 motherboard which supports AMD 1.5GHz or above Athlon
processors and adopts KT266A chipset with dual specification DDR/SDR memory
slots, DFI today unveiled the new DDR Motherboard adopting VIA KT266A with RAID
function
AD70, to
meet
the high speed and stability needs of users fond of AMD Athlon/ Duron CPU
.

Well
known for providing high quality products to PC users, DFI’s AD70 has
not only as high performance as AD72 has, but also provide optional IDE RAID
function to satisfy the strong desires of greater hard disk performance and data
security.

New
Choice for High-end users

DFI
AD70

Both
DFI’s AD70 and AD72 motherboards are ATX form factor, adopting VIA
KT266A/VT8233 chipset and supporting FSB 200B/266, Athlon/ Duron 1.5GHz or above
processors. When it comes to memory upgrades, the DFI AD70 incorporates three
184-pin DDR memory slots, which can support PC 2100/ PC1600 SDRAM and the main
memory is expandable up to a maximum of 3 GB.

As
for the expansion function, there are 5 PCI slots, which can provide the
Internet Management and control function and increase the expansion ability for
PCI interface cards. Besides, there are 6 USB connectors, one 2X /4X AGP slot
and ATA/100 IDE transfer interface.

Among
the DFI AD70 series motherboards, AD70-SC is distinguished from AD70-SR by
providing built-in AC’97 audio interface and one CNR slot. On the other hand,
AD70-SR provide IDE RAID function for desktop users or workstation users to
enhance the ability of data access and data backup.

DFI
AD70 Supports Promise IDE RAID 0 or1(optional)

RAID
is primarily a performance option in this era that every walk of life can hardly
run normally without PC to process and access most information. To prevent data
lost accidentally, “data protection” has already been an essential task.
Therefore, DFI AD70 first adopts RAID technology to enable users to access and
backup data easily.

RAID
is an acronym that stands for Redundant Array of Inexpensive (or
recently, independent) Disks. RAID enables users to integrate several
hard drives to form a unit at a larger size. RAID 0 is for striping, which can
offer faster efficiency of data access. While RAID 1 is for data mirroring or
data deposit, it enables error correction (or error tolerance) of system data.

DFI
AD70 Enables Faster Transfer Rate

DFI
AD70 is a high performance product. In addition to the cutting-edge RAID
function to enhance data protection, AD70 performs very well on I/O transfer
rate.

1
It simultaneously supports special AMD CPUs’ unique double speed data
processing feature of FSB 200/266 Athlon processor of 1.5GHz or above.

2
It supports the most updated PC2100/ PC 1600 double flow
specification memory architecture
; and its flow is twice as much as the
current PC100/ PC133 memory.

3
It integrates V-Link in the south bridge and the north bridge of KT266A/8233
chipset. Utilizing V-Link bus technology to expand the bandwidth between the
south bridge and the north bridge to 266MB per second. Comparing with the
bandwidth between the traditional south bridge and the north bridge, AD70 has
increased the bandwidth by 100%.

Making
use of the high performance and board bandwidth features, the I/O data
transmission and audio/video performance can be improved significantly.

With
the feature of double flow specification memory architecture, AD70 has
outstanding performance to many users from overclocking fans, computer games
addicts to people who have needs to process massive amount of data.

Surmounting
the Summit and DFI has Them All

AD70,
a high-end computer motherboard, integrating with the new century’s DDR memory
technology, not only simultaneously supports the time clock of AMD’s high-end
processor, but also provides a perfect hardware for the broadband environment.
The external frequency adjustment, multiple frequency adjustment, and
CPU
voltage adjustment functions allow users to easily put Athlon/Duron CPU and the
system performance into its utmost limit. Furthermore,
DFI’s unique Fan Guardian and Thermal
Guardian
designs, along with dual airbag protection enable users to enjoy
the fast speed at ease.
